Day 236: Buddy Holly (Words of Love)
March 23, 2023
Alternate title: The History of Rock 'n' Roll
These words of love,
We whisper soft and true,
To do what you love
Let Buddy show you what to do.
Three of you can suffice:
Bass, guitar and drums,
Basement, garage, warehouse,
Where three chords can be strummed.
Write words of love
Set to a simple tune,
Fall back on a few "mmms"
Or "yeahs" to repeatedly croon.
Keep the song succinct,
Leave the novels to Dylan.
Use plenty of a nod and a wink,
So that Dads make you a villain.
With these words of love,
Bullets to number one,
A simple bridge or a solo,
And the girls can be won.
(I suppose I also should have recommended they avoid planes, especially since Lynyrd Skynyrd and Buddy Holly occur so close to each other in this series, a truly, truly coincidental series of events.)
