Letting Me Down
You used to run wild in my mind like untamed stallions,
And when I lassoed a few of you, I found success.
Sometimes you were still a little wild despite captivity,
Others performed to their very best.
There are times like now when I really need you,
I stand with coiled rope in hand.
A friend needs comfort and reinforcement,
I need you to help me understand.
--------------------------
When the real issues hit,
Why you always letting me down?
When the real passion is needed,
Why you always letting me down?
When the world wants an answer
And someone looks to me,
Why do you insist on letting me down?
---------------------------
You were beauty and grace rolled into one,
And all I had to do was your pieces fit.
Once in awhile the finished product was rough,
Other times there were no problems to admit.
A day like today calls on your basic strength
So that I just have to play with the mold.
A friend needs some reaffirmation;
I need you to warm the cold.

When the real issues hit,
Why you always letting me down?
When the real passion is needed,
Why you always letting me down?
When the world wants an answer
And someone looks to me,
Why do you insist on letting me down?
