It's not so much that people

No longer know right from wrong.

It's that they don't seem to care

To focus on the distinction for very long.

We once understood high from low,

Kept some moral condemnation

About the reality of public shame,

Which we now make celebration.

We scream about corruption,

Erupt about incompetence,

Then hand over the keys

To a hood and his merry band of thieves.

When historians try to reconstruct

Today's reality from its lies,

They might want to save their words

For odes to intelligence's demise.

Nothing from nothing is today's lesson.

No distinctions worth mentioning.
