The Monster On House Arrest

October 3, 2024

Composed while undergoing a home EEG.

The Monster On House Arrest

I'm under surveillance,

Science poking beneath my surface,

Yet videoing the abhorrent appearance too:

Et tu, brute?

I am the creature held captive.

No monitor on the monster's ankle,

But captured by a skull cap:

Quite a switch, wretch.

My thoughts are paraded on a circuit

To be labelled by spasms and jerks.

What deformity will be determined

In the least, beast?

I am afforded fifteen-minute windows

When I can stray from camera range,

Freedom from the watchful orb,

As the worst, accursed.

-------------------------------

To save sanity, I turn to inanity

("'Allo cortex, 'ow are we today.")

Or to insufferable wordplay,

Contemplating how the perverse primate

Has deviated via ungulate

From hippodrome to hippocampus:

Who's the blot upon the earth now?

More disturbingly, the monster decrees

That he's safer now than if he were free.

Release means opportunity

To be with the truly deviant:

Third-rate comedians who mock cancer,

By pushing vaccine conspiracies,

Or Taylor's (not) signed (not) guitar

Bought and smashed in ignorant glee

Much as truth has already been.

-----------------------------

Dear God, please keep your creation bound.

If being solitary and loathed

Leaves me contactless via my electrodes:

Carpe diem, fiend.
