That Way Madness Lies

August 20, 2026

For all the hours old age provides,

Too much the mind works overtime,

In idle hands, bad thoughts reside:

That way madness lies.

Flat landscape ahead, and besides,

But rocky vestiges behind

Formed by shifting faults of mine:

That way madness lies.

Every wrong we wished to right,

Songs we are unable to write,

Resolutions we've been denied:

That way madness lies.

World's no want to apologize

As each fashion passes us by.

Things forgotten will be revived:

That way madness lies.

Old men on the shore cast their lines,

Lone figures from another time,

In the distance the mermaids sigh:

That way madness lies.
